Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Mahmud Yakubu has disclosed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is probing the commission’s officials in 20 states over alleged electoral fraud.
He said this during a quarterly consultative meeting with journalists in Abuja.
The EFCC is currently prosecuting about 205 officials of INEC for allegedly receiving part of the N23 billion reportedly disbursed by the former petroleum resources minister, Diezani Allinson Maduekwe.
The INEC boss has promised to cooperate with the EFCC in the anti-graft war in his commission.
In another development, stakeholders in Niger Delta have identified political interference, cultism as well as the absence of Federal Government presence as insecurity triggers.
They were speaking during the South-South Security Summit and public lecture yesterday in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
